As in phase one, each weekday morning begins with a 6:30 a.m. wake-up call after which the residents attend breakfast, perform chores, and prepare themselves for the day. In this phase, it is mandatory that each resident complete the full-day sessions of CORE (approximately 20 days, not counting weekends). Upon completing the full cycle of CORE, residents may continue to attend selected sessions of the program, which could be held in the mornings and/or the afternoons. The CORE program applies to any addiction.
After chores are completed, residents who are attending the first morning session of CORE take a prepared lunch and leave the home. Those not attending the first morning session of CORE are required to attend the 9 o'clock in-house meeting. After the meeting, the phase two residents who are not leaving the home to attend the late morning sessions of CORE, may be required to assist in additional cleaning or house duties (chores).
Following the 11:00 a.m. lunch and the lunch clean up, residents in this phase would leave to attend an outside self-help meeting or to attend the afternoon sessions of CORE. Residents who are not attending afternoon sessions of CORE, may be required to assist in general duties around the house, work on short-term goals which have been set in caseload, or have free time.
Residents in this phase must meet individually with the Caseworker at least once a week. During caseload for phase two residents, emphasis is placed on discussing the twelve steps of recovery and short-term goals are assigned (finding a sponsor, joining a group, pre-reading/studying each of the twelve steps to recovery). Discussions will also centre around the individual's feeling of progress in the CORE program and recovery in general.
When it is deemed beneficial, residents in phase two may attend a treatment program such as that provided by the Crosbie Centre or Recovery House. In the event a resident does attend one of these treatment programs, he would return to the Foundation for the weekends.
As in phase one, there is one evening in-house meeting per week, which phase two residents are required to attend. Residents must attend one meeting per day. These residents must adhere to the previously explained rules concerning the use of the T.V. and the "lights-out" policy.
Residents in phase two must adhere to a midnight curfew, Sunday to Thursday, and a 2:00 a.m. curfew on Friday and Saturday. Residents may request weekend passes every second weekend. These passes will be granted based on the resident's overall attitude, participation in programming, and completion of set goals. In special instances, overnight passes may be granted.
